Video Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using a web account. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest assemblage of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with competing players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the enthusiast puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "distributed" on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the player has decided on which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to choose the most beneficial game each and every time.
As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, several styles of the game allow the bettor a chance to double their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
