Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be bet on in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, through a web connection. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.

Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to select the most profitable ones each time.

As soon as the first round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations between individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to increase playability.
