Video Poker is a beloved game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or in your house on your PC, through a web connection. The regulations are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the gambler has selected which cards she wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced players are able to select the most money-making ones each time.

Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which case another game is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
