Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through an Internet account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with other players. The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A 5 card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has selected which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be needed they will be handed out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are able to choose the most profitable machine each time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that has been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the bettor an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
