Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a web account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the highest mixture of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will then be "distributed" on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors should now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has decided on which cards she wishes to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now finished, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payment schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced players are able to choose the most profitable ones each and every time.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that have been won. Further, a few versions of the game give the player a chance to double their wins, in which situation another game is played. There are also differences among specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
